Need a general practice appointment about something other than coronavirus?
Here’s what to do:
- Contact the practice, either online, by an app or by phone.
- You will be assessed and as far as possible you will receive advice or care online or over the phone.
- If a face-to-face appointment is necessary, you will be advised on what to do.
Please DO NOT enter the practice unless you’ve been advised to. This will ensure we can continue to provide essential care safely.

The public are being advised to stay at home (self-isolate) without any testing for COVID-19, regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases, if they have:
a. A new continuous cough
b. High temperature (of 37.8 degrees centigrade or higher)
c. A loss of / change in smell or taste
This will help to protect others in your community while you are infectious. DO NOT ATTEND AT THE PRACTICE OR A PHARMACY OR HOSPITAL.
At this challenging time, it is extremely important for you to know that COVID-19 is unlikely to make your child unwell, but they like everyone else might be infectious so staying at home when well remains the message. However, all the ‘normal’ illnesses that can make children severely unwell still remain and there is a major risk that parents may delay bringing their child to the attention of a healthcare professionals even if they are unwell because of concerns about COVID-19. GPs and hospitals are still providing the same safe care that they have always done for children. If your child appears severely unwell and advice is not quickly available call 999 or take them to the emergency department as you would in other times.
CHANGES TO DISPENSARY OPENING HOURS
In order to protect everyone in our community we have temporarily limited the opening hours of ur dispensary. The dispensary will now be open to patients at the following times:
Monday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Tuesday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Wednesday: 8am - 12.30pm
Thursday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
Friday: 8am - 12.30pm and 3pm - 5.30pm
The telephone line will remain open as usual from 9am - 1pm.
Please also be aware that prescription requests will now take up to 72 hours to be processed.
Ashbourne Medical Practice is a proud training practice, accredited by Health Education England – East Midlands. We are accredited for the training of General Practice Specialty Registrars. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who have chosen to specialise in general practice.
GP Registrars are valuable additions to our team, and we are confident that they provide our patients with modern, effective and caring treatment.
Upon making an appointment, the reception team will inform you if you are due to see a GP Registrar.
Consultations with GP Registrars are sometimes video recorded for training purposes. The recording will only take place if you give your consent; there is no obligation for you to do so. You may ask for the recording to be deleted if you change your mind during or following the consultation. The video will be reviewed only by the GP Registrar and their supervising GP Trainer, and once viewed will be deleted shortly afterwards.
If you have any concerns about the care of a child or vulnerable adult you can contact Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190. This is a helpline ran by Derbyshire County Council who have trained staff available to offer advice and support.
